Microsoft set to make some team features premium

Share post:

Microsoft has announced that some existing features available to Microsoft 365 subscribers will be moved to the more expensive Premium edition. Its service is currently available with a 30-day free trial. However, once it reaches general availability, Microsoft may charge $10 per user per month.

The feature will be generally available in February of this year. It provides advanced security features for users, such as the ability to watermark meetings, enable end-to-end encryption for meetings with more than 50 participants, and add sensitivity labels for virtual meetings, which prevent participants from copying and pasting meeting chats.

Others are Live translated captions; Timeline markers in Teams meeting recordings for when a user left or joined meetings; Custom organization Together mode scenes; Virtual Appointments – SMS notifications; Virtual Appointments – Organizational analytics in the Teams admin center; Virtual Appointments – Scheduled queue view.

“When Teams Premium becomes generally available to purchase, there will be a 30-day grace period for admins to purchase Teams Premium. After the 30-day grace period, users will lose access to features previously available in Teams without the Teams Premium add-on, unless the admin purchases and assigns Teams Premium licenses for their users,” Microsoft explained on a support page.
