Google unveils improved Search Generative Experience

Share post:

Google has rolled out a set of updates to its new Search Generative Experience (SGE), which includes a significant speed boost.

The updates were announced by Danny Sullivan, Google’s Search Liaison, on Twitter. He said that Google has made “several quality updates, including a major improvement that reduces the time required to generate AI snapshots by half.”

SGE, an experimental feature, use artificial intelligence to produce search result summaries. It was originally made available to the general public in a limited beta test a few weeks ago. Some testers, however, have raised reservations about the feature’s dominance on the search results page. The beta testers reported that the search results page is dominated by Google answers and guidance, pushing organic search results deep below the fold.

Google has said that it is “experimenting” with SGE and may make some changes before rolling it out to everyone as a default experience. It adds that it wants to continue driving traffic offsite to websites that provide more detailed information.
