In reaction to Meta, Dell, Google, and other corporations lobbying for in-person work in recent weeks, Atlassian has expressed worries about the harmful impact of legislating a return to the office on worker morale, lost productivity, and creativity.
Scott Farquhar, co-CEO and co-founder, indicated that around 40% of the staff lives more than two hours away from the nearest office. He stressed the disadvantages of firms tying physical presence to performance or forcing employees to participate in philanthropic activities. He said that such decisions stifle creativity, limit chances to a select few, and diminish the importance of personal connection.
Farquhar claims that 91 percent of his employees value the ability to work remotely or from an office as critical to their dedication to the firm. Furthermore, 92% say it allows them to perform at their peak. Atlassian also gives its 10,000-plus workers the option of working from home.
Spending a few days together also develops team synergy lasting four to five months. While 78 percent of Atlassian’s software developers visit the office once every three months, about half visit at least once a month. 75 to 90 percent of individuals residing within a two-hour radius come in at least once a month.
