TikTok Reaches 1 Billion Monthly Active Users Worldwide

TikTok has surpassed the one billion monthly active users worldwide, an increase of 45% since July 2020.

The company also announced that the US, Europe, Brazil and Southeast Asia are the largest markets for the popular short video app.

The company had previously stated that it had about 55 million global users by January 2018, rising to more than 271 million by December 2018, 508 million by December 2019 and 689 million by July 2020.

Comparatively, Facebook had 2.9 billion monthly active users through June 2021, according to its latest quarterly report.

TikTok had previously claimed to have surpassed the 2 billion global downloads mark by August 2020.

The video-sharing app belongs to the Chinese technology giant ByteDance. At the beginning of the year, TikTok appointed ByteDance’s CFO Shouzi Chew as its new CEO.
