The EU has sent a newly formed team of 8 to 12 cybersecurity experts to Ukraine following a series of cyberattacks.

The cybersecurity experts, known as the Cyber Rapid Response Team (CRRT), will help protect Ukraine from cyberattacks both remotely and on-site in Ukraine.

The Lithuanian Ministry of Defence, which informed the world of the new development, tweeted: “In response to Ukraine’s request, we are activating [a] Lithuanian-led cyber rapid-response team, which will help Ukrainian institutions cope with growing cyber-threats.”

CRRT, an initiative of the European Union, was created to help strengthen defense and cooperation between member states.

According to one official, the team consists of “different cyber expertise, such as incident response, forensics, and vulnerability assessment, to be able to react to a variety of scenarios.”

CRRTs are equipped with generic cyber toolkits designed to detect, detect, and mitigate cyber threats, and their presence in Ukraine will help counter a number of cyberattacks launched in recent weeks.
