Kaspersky terminates VPN service in Russia

Share post:

Kaspersky Laboratory has announced that its VPN product Kaspersky Secure Connection will no longer be available in the Russian Federation. This is because its providers refused to connect their services to the FGIS database, which would apply the censorship imposed by the government on VPN connections and subject user traffic and identity to state control.

It said that the disconnection will take place in stages to minimize the impact on customers. While the paid version of the service will be available until the end of December, the free version will be available until November 15.

Purchases of the paid version of Kaspersky Secure Connection will be available until December 2022 on both the official website and mobile app stores.

Customers with household packages will also not be able to use the application, while customers with active subscriptions will be able to use the product’s VPN service until the end of the paid period, which must not exceed the end of 2023.

Users of the free version of Kaspersky Secure Connection in Russia will no longer be able to use the product after November 15, 2022, and will have to look for alternatives. Moreover, the Russian-language version of the application will be available for download in other countries.
