SpaceX, run by Elon Musk, is under scrutiny for possibly blocking satellite internet in Taiwan, raising alarms over a potential breach of contract with the U.S. government, as reported by The Wall Street Journal.

Congressman Mike Gallagher has penned a letter to Musk following reports that Starlink’s service is inactive in the region, possibly compromising US military operations amidst fears of Chinese aggression against Taiwan.

Taiwan relies on SpaceX’s Starshield satellites, vital for intelligence and military purposes, with the U.S. having invested over $100 million in the project.

There are other concerns about Russia’s reported use of Starlink technology in Ukraine, although SpaceX has maintained that it does not sell to the Russion government. As the situation unfolds, SpaceX faces pressure to clarify its operations and ensure compliance with its contractual obligations, highlighting the intertwined nature of technology and international politics.
