USD Will Remain As Legal Tender In El Salvador

El Salvador’s Trade and Investment Minister Miguel Kattan said Monday that the U.S. dollar will remain the country’s legal tender, in contrast to the statement by the country’s president, Nayib Bukele, who wants bitcoin to become legal tender in the country.

According to the country’s top trade official, the transaction of bitcoin will be by choice alone.

He also pointed out that the bitcoin transactions would be linked to the dollar exchange in El Salvador.
