Amazon has announced a home robot called Astro that will roll around the house, taking on tasks such as home monitoring, setting up routines and reminders, and playing music and TV shows.

In announcing Astro, Amazon also noted that the company had entered into a deal with Walt Disney to infuse Astro’s voice-controlled technology into resorts and hotels.

The device has digital eyes on a rotating screen mounted on wheels.

Right now, considering the price of Astro, Amazon stated that the device will be available at an introductory invite-only price of $999.99 and a regular price of $1,449.99.

Other devices unveiled at the Amazon event include a smart thermostat, an Echo Show 15 smart display that can be mounted on a wall and powered by AZ2 Neutral Edge, and a new health-tracking band called Halo View.
