Employee Burnout Surged 100% During the Pandemic

The job-seeker website Glassdoor recently conducted a survey which found that the percentage of reviews on its website indicating burnout rose by 100% during the COVID 19 pandemic, while the percentage of staff mentioning mental health rose by 143%.

Glassdoor also mentioned that work from home setup for the past 18 months was supposed to be fleeting, but now some companies are taking significant action by introducing permanent flexibility or working from home policies, allowing employees to have more freedom over their own schedules and take more paid leave during the pandemic.

The site also asked which companies should be used for work-life balance and analyzed millions of reviews of Glassdoor by full-time employees in the U.S. between March 15, 2020 and September 28, 2021.

The results show that top companies advocated flexible working hours, generous time off, transparency and prioritising mental health.

These world-class companies have supported their employees throughout the COVID 19 pandemic by giving them innovative strategies such as working from anywhere, unlimited PTO and flexible working hours. This is a critical step in today’s age when burnout is at an all-time high and people are quitting their jobs while the Great Resignation continues.
