German labor union Verdi has called workers at seven different Amazon sites on strike over a protracted pay dispute.

A spokesman said the organized strikes would begin on Monday at a number of distribution centers and continue until Tuesday.

Amazon defended itself, saying in a statement that it provides excellent pay, benefits and career opportunities to all its employees.

Verdi is demanding that the technology giant raise workers’ wages in line with agreements the union has reached with the retail and mail order sector in Germany.
