Apple Series Watch 8 May Be Able To Detect If User Has Fever

The  Apple Watch Series 8 will reportedly be launching a body temperature sensor that can detect fever or a spike in body temperature.

In a Bloomberg report from Mark Gurman, he said that the watch should be able to alert the user of an increase in body temperature, and then encourage them to use a thermometer or seek for a medical consultation.

According to Gurman, the body temperature sensor still has to pass internal testing, and if cleared, Apple is expected to include this latest feature in the Watch Series 8, including the much talked-about “rugged” smartwatch for extreme sports athletes. However, the upcoming entry-level Apple Watch SE would most probably not have the sensor.

Earlier reports from Gurman and The Wall Street Journal specify that the body temperature sensor may also be used for fertility tracking, as changes in body temperature could help determine a woman’s fertility or predict when they are going to get their monthly period.

As per Gurman,  all other changes to the Apple Watch’s hardware “will probably be minor.” He also hinted at the possibility of an improved display for higher-end models.
