Chase Bank users in the United Kingdom can’t access mobile apps

A mysterious outage of Chase Bank’s virtual current accounts has left U.K. customers unable to access their accounts or open new ones.

Chase Bank in the United Kingdom is a mobile app-only offering without physical branches, and the app is the primary means for customers to access, trade or communicate with the bank.

The app has been shut down since Monday night, preventing customers from making payments or accessing money, and many disgruntled customers have taken to Twitter to vent their frustration.

According to reports, when users opened the Chase U.K. app, they were logged out and asked to log in again, with parts of the app remaining inaccessible.

Chase U.K. confirmed that its systems were experiencing problems but could not explain why this happened in a report of an incident at 12:21 PM BST yesterday.

However, the bank said in an email that the use of the debit card in the store, earning rewards and receiving incoming payments functioned normally. Direct debits, standing orders or scheduled payments were not affected by the outage, according to the bank. Users were able to use the card and digital wallet in stores without incident.

Chase later reported that some customers’ experiences had improved, but that the investigation into a solution was continuing.
