Windows 11’s latest security update causing issues for users

Share post:

Microsoft’s latest mandatory security update, KB5025239, is currently rolling out to Windows 11 users worldwide. However, it seems that the update is causing issues for some users. While these issues vary from user to user, a few significant ones stand out, such as File Explorer crashing and icons disappearing from the desktop.

According to reports from Windows Latest, the issues compiled from Reddit posts and emails from their readers indicate that users are experiencing problems with performance, SSD speed, and unresponsive desktop icons that have disrupted their normal everyday experience with their PCs.

Users have also reported that the changes occurred shortly after installing the latest update. Some users have claimed that their devices have been running slower than usual since installing the April 11 cumulative update, which was released as a mandatory security update. Apps, games, and the operating system itself have been lagging, likely due to slowed SSD speeds.

The Windows 11 update was said to have brought in some great features, such as a better-looking taskbar and improved accessibility features, but the issues seem to be thwarting its efforts.

Although update bugs are not new, the current instance is particularly frustrating for users as it significantly affects their device performance and general workflow. The amount of people affected by the issue is unknown.

Fortunately, users can uninstall the update and resolve the issues. If you’re experiencing the same problems mentioned above, it’s best to uninstall the update until the bugs are addressed.
