Google implements attendance policy for employees

Share post:

Google has introduced a new hybrid work policy that will closely monitor employees’ office badge attendance and address non-compliance while also tackling inconsistent office attendance.

Attendance will be considered in performance evaluations. Google expects employees to be physically present for at least three days a week. The company emphasizes the value of in-person collaboration and acknowledges the impact of working together on recent product development. The attendance policy will be enforced through performance reviews and reminders for consistent non-attendance. Even remote workers near Google offices are encouraged to adopt a hybrid work schedule for better community connection.

Google may reevaluate remote workers who were previously approved based on various factors like business needs, role changes, team dynamics, structural alterations, or location modifications. The company is reviewing local requirements to implement similar attendance measures in other countries. If employees consistently fail to adhere to the policy, human resources will intervene.

In the future, Google will only grant new requests for full remote work on an exceptional basis. The company aims to find a balance between in-person collaboration and the benefits of remote work, incorporating both approaches into its workplace policies.
