Microsoft extends Teams Rooms license deadline by 90 days

Microsoft has extended the deadline for customers to sign up for Teams Rooms licenses by 90 days. The original deadline was July 1, 2023, but the new deadline is now September 30, 2023.

The move comes after Microsoft acknowledged that not enough customers had signed up for licenses by the original deadline. Teams Rooms licenses are required for users to use Teams Rooms hardware, which is designed for use in meeting rooms.

The free Standard tier of Teams Rooms licenses was introduced in August 2022, and the Pro tier of licenses costs $40 per month. But it appears that many customers have not yet taken advantage of this offer.

Microsoft says that the grace period will allow customers and partners more time to complete the migration to Teams Rooms licenses. However, the company warns that failure to sign up for a license after September 30 could result in disruption to Teams Rooms functionality.
