IBM partner Meta to bring Llama 2 AI language program to businesses

International Business Machines (IBM) and Meta Platforms (Meta) have announced a partnership to bring Meta’s Llama 2 AI language program to businesses.

Llama 2 is a commercial version of Meta’s open source AI language model launched in July. It is a 70-billion-parameter large language model that can be used for a variety of tasks, including question answering, content generation, and summarization.

IBM will host Llama 2 on its enterprise AI platform, watsonx. This will allow businesses to easily integrate Llama 2 into their workflows and use it to improve efficiency and productivity. Future plans include the rollout of additional software like AI tuning studios, fact sheets, and other generative AI models. This move aligns with IBM’s strategy to provide an array of third-party and proprietary AI models.

Llama 2, a commercial variant of Meta’s open source AI language model, presents itself as a competitor in the nascent generative AI market alongside OpenAI’s ChatGPT and Google’s Bard. Its availability in watsonx.ai signifies a significant milestone in IBM’s generative AI roadmap.

To ensure trust and security, IBM has incorporated AI guardrails within Llama 2. These safeguards automatically detect and remove harmful language from input and output. Furthermore, IBM Consulting’s extensive pool of over 21,000 data, AI, and automation experts, alongside a Center of Excellence for Generative AI, is poised to assist clients in customizing and operationalizing models tailored to their specific business needs.
