Everything To Know About The Facebook/Ray-Ban Smartglasses

Ray-Ban has announced its new Stories Smartglasses, which the company describes as the “first generation of smart sunglasses and eyeglasses”.

The Smartglasses will, according to Ray-Ban, offer a “new way to capture, share and listen.”

The technology, which is a hardware project in partnership with Facebook, has a pair of 5MP front cameras that can be voice-controlled and allow hands-free use. The device can also take photos at 2592×1994 pixels and video at 1184×1184 pixels at 30 frames per second.

The glasses, which come in three styles (Wayfarer, Round and Meteor) and in six colours. They start at $299.

In addition, the storage capacity of the device is enough to hold thirty 30-second video clips or 500 photos.

The open-ear speakers and surround-sound microphones, built into the arms of the glasses, also accommodate music playback and the ability to make and receive phone calls.

The Stories smartglasses are charged wirelessly by a portable charging case. Charging takes an hour and provides about 6 hours of use. The charging case itself can hold three charges of the Smartglasses.
