Apple Delays Return to In-person Work

According to Bloomberg News, tech giant Apple recently ruled out returning to the office.

This became necessary due to the growing concern about the spread of the Omicron variant of COVID-19.

Apple had originally set February 1 as the deadline for workers to return to work, but a memo from chief executive Tim Cook showed the deadline had been scrapped.

Cook, who gave details of the company’s move, said: “We are delaying the start of our hybrid work pilot to a date yet to be determined. Our offices remain open and many of our colleagues are coming in regularly, including our teams in Greater China and elsewhere.”

Not stopping there, Cook advised the company’s employees to take the COVID-19 vaccines, because for him, “this is by far the best way to keep you and your community safe.” Apple is not the only company taking decisive steps to limit the health effects of the new variant of COVID-19.

Google has also recently scrapped the deadline for in-person work for the same reasons, and other companies are also going remote in a bid to protect their workers.
