Ukraine’s “IT army” made up of a group of independent hackers has announced a new set of targets to compromise.

The top listed targets include Belarus’ railway, Russian telecom companies, and GLONASS. GLONASS is Russia’s alternative to the Global Positioning System (GPS) satellite navigation network.

Ukraine’s “IT army” was formed on Saturday following the calls from the Ukrainian government to help protect critical infrastructure. The group will also help conduct cyber spying missions against Russian troops.

As Ukraine’s Vice Prime Minister Mykhailo Fedorov puts it, the group will be significant in fighting against Russia’s digital intrusions.

Kremlin.ru, the official website of the Kremlin and the office of Russian President Vladimir Putin, was taken offline on Saturday in an apparent distributed denial of service (DDoS) attack.

Belarusian Cyber Partisans, a group working with Ukraine’s “IT army” is also targeting Belarus. The group confirmed disabling the railway traffic system because they were used in transporting Russian soldiers.
