Twitter To Start Testing Edit Feature In Coming Months

Twitter will begin testing a new edit feature in the coming months. The edit feature will allow users to change their tweets instead of having to delete them.

Twitter will begin testing the feature within its Twitter Blue Labs premium subscription service in the coming months. This according to the company will allow the company to “learn what works, what doesn’t and what’s possible.”

Described as “the most requested Twitter feature for many years,” Jay Sullivan, Twitter’s head of consumer products, tweeted that the company had been working on the feature since last year.

Sullivan said it will take time for the feature to finally be available to all users, because “without things like time limits, controls and transparency about what has been edited, Edit could be misused to alter the record of public conversation.”

While the company teased users about the feature on April Fool’s Day, Twitter’s new biggest shareholder Elon Musk asked users of the platform to vote on whether they want the feature. The poll had more than 4.2 million votes with 73.5% supporting the feature.
