$27 Million Spent On Zuckerberg’s Security and Private Jet Travel In 2021

According to Meta’s filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission, the company spent $26.8 million on security and private jet travel for Mark Zuckerberg and his family in 2021.

Meta did not disclose details about what Zuckerberg’s security arrangement involved in the SEC filing. The company said more than $15.1 million was spent on personal security for Zuckerberg in 2021, along with a $10 million pre-tax allowance for the safety of the CEO and his family.

The company pointed out that Zuckerberg spent more than $1.6 million on private air travel in 2021.

Zuckerberg’s spending on security grew exponentially in 2018, and his security doubled in the wake of the Cambridge Analytical scandal.

Zuckerberg is considered one of the most protected CEOs, and according to Insider’s Rob Price, Zuckerberg’s security measures include 24/7 bodyguard protection, access to an office with bulletproof glass, and a panic button.

It is however hard to predict whether Zuckerberg is the most expensive CEO to protect, given that other billionaires have refused to publicly reveal how much they spend on security.
