Parler accidentally reveals personal email addresses of VIPs, others when announcing Kanye’s purchase

Parler accidentally revealed the personal email addresses of some of the company’s most elite members while trying to inform users about the company’s takeover deal with Kanye West.

Instead of simply copying a group of VIP members, an email in which they were CC-ed shared the email addresses of many verified users and Parler investors.

Employees of Senator Ted Cruz and former President Donald Trump are among those affected, as are Handmaid’s Tale aspirant and Daily Wire contributors Matt Walsh and Eric Trump’s wife Lara Lee. People like Ivanka Trump and former social media director Dan Scavino were also reportedly affected.

However, the email disclosure is not a major security breach, as some members of the elite society and party politicians appear to have made their emails public or even have each other’s contact details. It is still not acceptable for a technology company to share the personal information of its users because it violates basic data protection rules.

Parler, who was the victim of a data breach last year in which hacktivists pulled all publicly available data on the platform and then uploaded it to the Internet archive for safekeeping, has neither acknowledged the error nor taken steps to correct the situation.
