Citigroup Introduces Zoom-free Fridays To Promote Better Work-life Balance

The coronavirus prompted a sudden shift from physical gathering to that of remote work for many businesses across the world. This, in turn, ushered in the widespread use of video-call software such as Zoom as workers continue to remotely work from home. As vaccinations roll out to combat the deadly virus, a lot of businesses are in the process of sorting out their future working arrangements. In a memo released on Monday by American Investment bank, Citigroup’s Jane Fraser, the chief executive told staffs to observe “Zoom-free Fridays”. She further stated that 28 May will be designated as a company-wide holiday, known as a “reset day”.

According to reports, Ms Fraser who was appointed into the current position last month used the memo released to outline how working practices will change when the coronavirus pandemic is over. For her, changes needed to be made in response to the feedback from staffs. She noted, “The blurring of lines between home and work and the relentlessness of the pandemic workday have taken a toll on our wellbeing. After listening to colleagues around the world, it became apparent we need to combat the ‘Zoom fatigue’ that many of us feel
