Twitter Blue lets paid users hide verification checkmarks

Share post:

Social media company X, formerly known as Twitter has updated its help page to allow paid subscribers to hide their verification checkmarks. The company says that the checkmark may still appear in some places, but it will be hidden on users’ profiles and posts.

The option to hide the checkmark will be available in the “Profile customization” section of account settings. Twitter says that it will continue to evolve this feature to make it better for users.

The ability to hide the verification checkmark is seen as a way for users to benefit from subscription features without revealing that they are verified accounts. This could be useful for users who want to use XBlue’s ad-free browsing or undo tweet features without being targeted by trolls or harassment.

This development comes after app reverse engineer Alessandro Paluzzi’s tweet in March, which hinted at Twitter’s efforts to provide users with the ability to control their account verification and identity more comprehensively.
