Ransomware Attack Disrupts City of Tulsa Online Services

Share post:

Tulsa, Oklahoma recently suffered a ransomware attack on the city’s network, forcing the city to shut down its systems to prevent the further spread of the malware.

While Tulsa Mayor GT Bynum stated that employees are already back at work and that the issue had no impact on 911 services or emergency response, shutting down the city system has disrupted online services such as online billing systems, utility bills, and email services. Some websites like the City of Tulsa, the Tulsa City Council, the Tulsa Police Department, and the Tulsa 311 websites have also been down for maintenance.

In a Facebook post, the city said it was aware of the problem and that customer data had not been compromised during the attack.

In a post on the Tulsa Police Department’s Facebook page, the city said: “The City of Tulsa is experiencing technical difficulties on many outward-facing programs that help serve the citizens of Tulsa due to a ransomware attack. No customer information has been comprised, but residents will not be able to access City websites and there will be delays in network services.”
