Digital Ads Industry Accused Of Data Breach

Share post:

The Irish Council for Civil Liberties recently sued a branch of Interactive Advertising Bureau (IAB) Tech Lab, which specializes in developing standards for the digital advertising industry, for what it called “the world’s largest data breach.”

The case brought forward by Johnny Ryan focuses on the data that is shared between ad brokers and other companies while ad space is offered as a website load.

The process is also knows as the real-time bidding process.

While many Internet services have been kept free to use by digital ads, there is an ongoing debate about the amount of data collected about individuals to target digital ads.

For Ryan, most people who use online services are unaware of how much data is shared about them and with whom that data is shared.
