Volume Of Cyber Intrusion In H1 Increased By 125%

The volume of cyber break-ins in the first half of 2021 has increased by 125% compared to 2020 according to a recent report by Accenture.

Accenture attributes the recent increase to web shell activity, ransomware incidents and supply chain attacks, with the U.S. topping the list of the most affected countries with 36%, followed by the U.K. with 24% and Australia with 11%.

With ransomware dominating the report section on malware attacks, Accenture Cyber Investigations, Forensics & Response section, Robert Boyce noted that organizations make themselves vulnerable to attacks by failing to secure third parties and other supply chains that they are part of.

He then called on companies to secure all subsidiaries or subsidiaries to which they belong, while protecting their core corporate systems.
