Fear mounts over AI taking over white-collar jobs

Following layoffs in the tech sector, Davos believes that AI may be coming for white-collar jobs.

According to Davos, many jobs will undergo significant changes, with employees likely sharing their workflows with a variety of AI-powered software bots. While AI is replacing specific tasks rather than entire jobs.

Experts have become increasingly concerned in recent years about the potential impact of artificial intelligence (AI) on white collar jobs. According to some experts, AI has the potential to automate many tasks currently performed by human workers, potentially resulting in significant job losses in industries such as finance, healthcare, and customer service.

Google, for example, cut approximately 12,000 jobs, blaming it on a different economic reality, but went on to double down on artificial intelligence (AI) and axe staff who support experimental projects.

Others argue that AI will create new jobs and opportunities, and that governments and businesses must collaborate to ensure a smooth transition for workers affected by these changes. Hanzade Dogan, chairwoman of Turkish e-commerce company Hepsiburada, is one such believer, noting the potential for AI to dramatically reduce the costs of expensive services while also expanding access to legal aid, health care, and other services.
