Resumebuilder survey assess ChatGPT’s management capabilities

Share post:

A recent survey conducted by the Resumebuilder.com platform examined ChatGPT’s management capabilities by instructing it to send emails addressing 15 critical management scenarios. The replies were then reviewed and rated by a law expert, a human resources expert, and a management expert.

60% of the 15 replies were deemed acceptable, while 40% earned a net failing grade. ChatGPT did well when dealing with diversity-related problems, but didn’t when it came to remuneration and underperforming workers. It received the highest grades while dealing with an employee under investigation for sexual harassment and a corporation switching healthcare providers to save money. On the other hand, it fared poorly when asked to react to an employee who was worried about pay fairness and other concerns.

The legal expert stated that ChatGPT’s response to an employee being investigated for sexual harassment would have been excellent, but it is unaware of how individual companies may handle certain situations, as it promised to keep the employee informed of the investigation’s progress rather than just the outcome.

The researchers also discovered that ChatGPT sent an approved email reminding the whole organization about the need to encourage more varied opinions and tone down political vitriol on the internal chat platform. However, there is a risk that the emails will not feel personalized to the specific company or employees.

According to the report, ChatGPT cannot substitute a manager in situations such as layoffs, with 77% of respondents who had been laid off agreeing that layoffs should always be announced in person rather than online.
