iPhone 14 To Have 48MP Camera Sensor

Tech analyst Ming-Chi Kuo claims that the iPhone 14 camera will have a 48-megapixel sensor. Kuo predicts that this change will help boost revenue for Taiwanese camera supplier Largan precision.

The huge 1/1.3-inch sensor used for wide-angle photography is said to offer a hybrid operating mode and 8K video recording.

It is expected that the camera uses pixel binning to improve colour accuracy and performance in low-light, and four discrete pixels that are used for each pixel of a photo generated in low light.

This means that there will still be 12-megapixel photos in low light and up to 48 megapixels in brightly lit photos.

After the resolution, Kuo also predicts that a periscope or folding lens arrangement to take on camera zooming concerns could potentially be used in an iPhone that debuts in 2023 – the iPhone 15.

Folding lenses have a complicated prism and mirror arrangement to create a longer path for light to pass through the lens components, making optical zooms a reality with greater ranges than typical ones.

Apple owns multiple patents on related lens systems, making it a very high possibility.
