Amazon Web Services set to open local hub and new offices in Mexico

Amazon Web Services AWS plans to open new offices and a local hub in Mexico in the first quarter of 2023 to increase bandwidth for its customers, according to Luis Velasco, an Amazon Web Services Mexico (AWS) director in Mexico.

The hub will bring computing, storage, database, and other services closer to large populations and IT centers, increasing bandwidth for purposes such as video streaming. It will use local zone infrastructure to run applications for real-time gaming, hybrid migration, media and entertainment creation, and technical simulations.

Velasco stated that AWS Mexico will also open new offices in Guadalajara and Monterrey in the first three months of 2023, and form alliances with local companies such as Totalplay, a telecommunications company that advises AWS’s cloud services and expands its operations in the country.

Totalplay’s Director of Products and Marketing, Fernando Zamora, stated that the partnership between AWA and Totalplay will increase AWS’s presence in the Mexican cloud market, increasing it from $1.4 billion in 2021 to $2.7 billion in 2025.
