Clubhouse Reverses Access Requirements in Response to Member Complaints

Share post:

In response to recent criticism, Clubhouse will no longer require access to phone contacts to invite people to the new podcasting platform. Now, users will themselves have to add phone numbers directly. Although it is not ideal to avoid phone numbers altogether, it addresses allegations that the audio platform has both demanded unnecessary information and created profiles for people who are not currently members of the social network. Clubhouse is also making changes that will also address complaints about its incoming audio chat, while giving creators a boost in the process.

While some basic features of the clubhouse service have been expanded, including support for link sharing, voice filters that allow users to restrict chats to those in their preferred language, CEO Paul Davidson announced that private individuals can ask the company to delete contacts that have already been uploaded. He also explained that a tool is now in the works to help users delete contacts themselves.
